Born in Petion-Ville in 1963 this brilliant yong man, son of Louisiane St Fleurant, had an incredibly short and brilliant career. His paintings are organized graphic representations of spirits and symbols.

Born in 1940 at Petite Riviere de L’Artibonite, he developed a style that influenced a great number of Artists of his region. His paintings are miniatures of Vodou or Catholic inspiration decorated with a multitude of lines and adorned with halos and other gold elements.

Reynald Joseph


 


Born in Port-au-Prince in 1973. His father artist Wilfrid Louis was also his teacher. He started selling his paintings early and has earned a reputation among young Haitian artists. He mostly paints scenes of every day life in Haiti with a certain humorous and easy style.

Prospere Pierre Louis


 


Born in Jacmel in 1947, he was a founding member of Saint Soleil, and he died in Haiti in 1996. His paintings, in the Saint Soleil tradition, are a combination of free forms decorated with dots and lines, with some anthropomorphic elements.

Prefete Duffaut


 


Born in Jacmel in 1923, this world renowned painter became part of the first generation of Artists discovered by The Centre D’Art. As such he was chosen to paint murals in the Saint Trinity Cathedral in Port-au-Prince alongside Castera Bazile, Rigaud Benoit and Wilson Bigaud. His style is instantly recognizable and he is the only artist of his generation to paint in a non narrative style relying entirely on his imagination to create startling colorful images of vodoo ceremonies or surreal landscapes .

Pierre Joseph Valcin


 


Born in 1926 in Port-au-Prince he is the brother of Gerard Valcin. He joined the Centre d’‘Art. His style barely changed from the day he started and he is a true naive painter of everyday life in Haiti.

Louisiane St. Fleurant


 


A member of the original Saint Soleil group, promoted by Andre Malraux. She recently died in Haiti. Her technique is related to other St Soleil artists, her style is very original and her subjects are often women and children.

Jasmin Joseph


 


Born in Grande Riviere du Nord in 1923, he started sculpting clay figurines while working at a brick factory. He was soon discovered by Jason Seley and commissioned to create the choir screen for the St Trinity Cathedral in Port-au-Prince. After finding out that someone had made molds of some of his pieces to copy and sell them, he renounced sculpture and became a painter. His art is included in major Museum collections in the United States.
